BANANA OATY BITES FOR PENNIES AND ONLY 3 INGREDIANTS!!

BANANA OATY BITES

Today has seen some of the heaviest rain for quite some time sigh! After the kids had finished with their Saturday morning clubs I needed to find something to keep them amused for a while. We always end up baking, baking has no age restrictions it's an all round winner in our house.

I remembered seeing a recipe some where a while ago where you used banana instead of flour and eggs etc so decided to give it ago from vague memory. It actually turned out very well and only has three ingredients all of which a super cheap, bonus. Here's how we got on....

You will need the following items

ONE CUP OF OATS, TWO BANANAS AND SOME CHOC CHIPS
That's all and we literally have these items in the cupboard all the time. You could probably substitute the choc chips for raisins or blueberries or even add some honey or syrup. The beauty is you can probably do what ever you like.

Step one

ADD THE BANANA TO THE OATS

Add the oats and banana together. There looks a lot less in my photo because I split the ingredients into three so they all had their own bowl. This also worked out fine. Now just smoosh them together with the back of a fork. And then you can chuck in your choc chips or what ever you want to use. It will look something like this.

Step two

Roll into little balls. This is the bit the kids look forward to except my son who for whatever reason doesn't like to get his hands dirty. Also you can add extra oats at this point if your mixture isn't firm enough. You want to keep them smallish so they are bite size. We got 25 nice sized balls out of this mixture. You will need to either use greased proof paper or grease your tray as they will stick!!. We put ours in the oven for 15 minutes at 200 degrees. And this is how they turned out after cooling.

I have to confess I hate banana and I did not eat any but my husband and children wolfed these down in one sitting. And considering the ingredients are just banana, oats and some choc chips I would count this as a fairly healthy snack. So there you have it Banana oaty bites for pennies!!
